Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge Tasmanian Aboriginal People as traditional custodians of this land. We pay respect to Elders past and present, as they hold the memories, traditions, culture and hope for generations to come. We recognise and value Aboriginal histories, knowledge and lived experiences and commit to being culturally inclusive and respectful in our working relationships with Aboriginal People.

CULTURALrealities

Placedness: Places shape CULTURALrealities and cultures in turn shape places. Cultures transform 'spaces' into places. People belong to place and while some cultures imagine that places belong to them, owned by them. In the end we simply occupy places because they offer security, and shelter, and a space to create and sustain an identity.

Places are welcoming spaces within which we create, make, procreate and nurture all that our placemaking afford us to ndo and especially assert  our 'identities'– our personal identity, our group's identity

It is never really the case that a person in isolation 'owns' a place and its resources. Places' amenity is share and there are layers upon layers of cognitive cum communal cum collaborative cum cooperative ownerships and interests in places – multiple place, multiple layerings [REFERENCE LINK].

Places are governed to ensure and insure their amenity and placedness on behalf of those who make their homes and carry on their enterprises within them. Purposeful placedness is the primary business of governance.
